Weston Lacrosse takes coaches training seriously. As members of the Connecticut-New York Youth Lacrosse Association (CONNY), we are required to ensure that at least one coach on the sidelines of each game have complied with CONNY coaches and rules training. That means a coach has to:

pass the Positive Coaching Alliance Test or the US Lacrosse Level 1 Test,
pass the CONNY Rules Test
attend coaching training
undergo a background check
attend CPR training

Most of the Weston lacrosse coaches are parents like you. Some played lacrosse in the past, and some did not. Prior playing experience in coaching is desired, but not essential. As a matter of fact, Erin Quinn, a national college coach of the year winner and the winner of 3 NCAA Division III National Titles at Middlebury College, never played lacrosse. Locally, Jeff Brameier, head coach of Darien High School and one of the winningest coaches in CT HS lacrosse history, played college baseball. However, both coaches studied the game of lacrosse and understood that personal interaction with players, officials and other coaches was critical to success.

Weston strives to find coaches with a combination of good lacrosse knowledge, the ability to teach skills, and the ability to positively relate to young athletes. We hope to shape the skills and enthusiasm of our players so that they develop a love for the game of lacrosse.
