The Weston Lacrosse Club - Paul Scheufele Endowment Fund (the "Endowment") was established in 2006 to provide permanent funding for boys and girls lacrosse at the youth and high school levels in Weston, CT. The Endowment is managed by the Fairfield County Community Foundation based in Norwalk, CT. The FCCFoundation ( http://www.fccfoundation.org ) will administer the Endowment and provide an annual grant to the Weston Lacrosse Club which will determine the use of proceeds.

WHY A LACROSSE ENDOWMENT FOR WESTON?

We all deserve to be proud of Weston lacrosse. Since 1998, we have built a great youth and high school program based on the values of competitive excellence, safety, respect and fun. Yet there is so much more we must do to convert our early success into a tradition of excellence. Our annual fundraising effort assists our teams with coaching, uniforms, equipment and transportation. However, a tradition of excellence takes permanent funding resources to attract, develop and retain outstanding coaching and to purchase the best equipment available for our player training and performance. It is much tougher to build and maintain excellence when funding can be derailed by economic, enrollment and budgetary cycles. We are mindful that Weston once had a thriving high school lacrosse program in the early 1980s, only to see it cut when enrollment and budget declines hit the town in the late 1980s. It took 15 years to bring the sport back to Weston. The Endowment, among other things, will ensure strong funding for Weston lacrosse forever! An Endowment guarantees permanent funding and sends a message that "Weston is committed to the tradition of excellence" at levels reached by some of the great programs around the country. The lacrosse world, our community, our coaches and our players will hear the message and will want to be a part of our pioneering effort and emerging tradition.
